22,000 KM - AROUND AUSTRALIA WITH OAKS HOTELS

One of our favourite specialisations at LP Commercial Photography is architecture and interiors so when we were approached by our events partner Headbox to see if we would be interested in a commission to photograph business conference venues for Oaks Hotels we jumped at the chance.

Little did we realise at the start of the conversation that the project would see us travel over 22,000km over four months as we journeyed to Oaks locations in Melbourne, Hunter Valley, sunshine Coast, Gladstone, Townsville, Port Douglas, Darwin and Broome to deliver almost 2000 fully processed images.

The brief was to capture all of the corporate conferencing facilities at each of the hotels and demonstrating the high standards held across all of the Oaks Hotel Group but also the unique style and special offerings of each of the venues. Joining us on the trip was also a team who would be creating 3D Scans and “walkthrough” renders of the facilities at each hotel.

The brief fell on LP Commercial Owner/partner Andy Jarvie to fulfil. Andy is a passionate architectural and interiors specialist who has a wealth of experience working with some of the largest hotel brands in Australia and internationally to capture unique images of their locations.

“It was a great job not just because of the client, who was flexible, gave great input and was so enjoyable to work with, but because of the great variety in locations and styles.

“It was a great opportunity to work on a job where you had to achieve a consistency of style and quality so that if all the pictures appeared on one page you could see a brand cohesiveness while at the same time the uniqueness of each venue whether it be a city centre location, a sweeping golf resort, a family orientated holiday location or a rural town hotel.”
