Event photography is an area of our business I love.
While we are a Brisbane corporate and commercial photography business we are lucky enough to have clients that would prefer to fly us to their events across Australia than risk using photographers they don’t know or have no experience working with.
Having such a varied client list means we get to experience so many different industries and learn so much. Sometimes you hear world class speakers talk about things you had never even considered, other times you get to hear fellow small businesses talk about their successes and get to take that information away with you to help shape your own business journey.
Sometimes you just get to be involved in an utterly amazing spectacle and have a great day out doing what you love, taking photographs.
One such job was covering Somersby’s involvement in the Polo in the City event in Brisbane.
There are few things as pleasurable as a balmy and sunny day in Brisbane, good drinks, good company and a fantastic and exciting sport to watch.
There was also a lot of hard work ensuring all aspects of the day was captured and the steps counter on my watch told me I had a very good day as I constantly walked the arena capturing all the action on field and off but what a brilliant day with a wonderful client and a truly great spectacle.
As Brisbane’s Commercial Photographers servicing the Brisbane area and Sydney and Melbourne, we get to work with some great clients with amazing brand stories to tell. We recently worked with HM Magazine to photograph the Mantra Executives as a front cover feature for the magazine.
We give you a little behind the scenes look at our commercial shoot below.

It' great to see when your clients use your pictures and get great coverage in the media....
What do you get when you gather together some of the best cocktail bar staff in Australia? One hell of a cocktail competition and an even better photoshoot.
As regular contributors to Bars and Club's magazine LP Commercial's Andrew Jarvie would spend hours in the company of some of the greatest mixologists in Australia an the world photographing (and sampling) their creations.... sometimes work is not all that hard...
In February 2010 Australian V8 racing cars journeyed to The United Arab Emirates for the first time.
The logistics of moving an entire Australian racing category half way around the world for one race meet was staggering. Critical to the venture was one late night in Melbourne when the cars from every race team were loaded into an Emirates Cargo Boeing 747.
LP Commercial's Andrew Jarvie was booked by Emirates to capture the moment. The shoot was a tricky night time affair on the apron of Melbourne Airport. With refuelling planes all around no flash lighting was allowed so the whole shoot had to be managed in available light.
Being a definite petrol head, watching some of Australia's most powerful racing cars load onto a single aircraft is something Andrew will remember for a long time to come.
A few years ago Andy received a call... a friend of client had a small job she needed photographed near Ballarat, a turf cutting ceremony for a new building venture.
The venture turned out to be the start of construction of what was at the time the largest wind-farm in the southern hemisphere by Acciona Energy.
The "quick job" turned into three years of work recording the growth of the development and included the creation of a time lapse film that condensed some three years of building work into a matter of minutes as well as thousands of images documenting a truly awe-inspiring project.
When a venue re-invets itself there is nothing like a good set of atmospheric interior, food and drink images for traditional and social media exploitation to reset people's opinions and present the new look.
Converting a former sports club bar into the chic and friendly Helm Bar Gold Coast bar and restaurant saw just such a dramatic change and Andy was called in to capture both the food and drink on offer but also the the stylish and welcoming atmosphere of the venue.
Triathlon is one of the most challenging sports out there with athletes specialising in multi disciplines including one of the most exhausting.... the ocean swim.
As it turns out its one of the most gruelling sports we've been involved in capturing as well. Brisbane-based sportswear company Dare2Tri commissioned us to photograph a range of images for website exploitation and social media marketing.
After working through the brief with them we agreed that a combination of shots showing the wetsuits and clothing in all their glory in static posed shots would be required but so would a range of powerful action shots showing the clothing and athletes putting themselves to the test against the elements.
Breaking out the dive housings Andy plunged into the ocean alongside internationally famed Tri-athelete and former Australian team member Flic Abraham to catch all the action.
Its always nice just to be able to say thanks to a fellow small business.
Rafter and Rose in the heart of Ipswich is a truly beautiful small family run cafe where everything is fresh baked and delicious.
Emily and I were regulars while we operated a studio from across the road and soon became friends of the owners which led toilets of free treats and "try this and that" moments.
So it was nice to be able to return the favour doing a food and drink photoshoot for them with images being used for social media content and genera marketing.
If you ever find yourself in Ipswich its a must visit.... and trust me, the bacon jam is to die for!!
What do you get when you cross the Red bull motorcycle stunt team, a bevy of sporting and TV celebrities, Cheer leaders, Luna Park, and the leaders in the Australian liquor industry? One hell of a party!!
Every year for almost a decade Andrew has been lucky enough to be the official photographer for the ALIA (Australian Liquor Industry Awards) in Sydney.
Every year there is a different theme and many locations have been used but here are a selection from one of his favourite events.
The images are used by Event organisers publishing house Intermedia in their range of magazines as well as gifts to sponsors and event attendees.
As a photographer it is always interesting when you are asked to create images around a subject that is within your own industry.
Such was the case when video production company Ipermedia asked us to work with them to create a set of stills for the launch of a new 360 degree action camera from ZMER.
It was the start of a three day non stop dusk to dawn shoot with Bothe Emily and Andy working round the clock on the Gold Coast to deliver a over 600 images detailing the use of the camera in a range of activities from surfing to bush walking, sailing to roller coasters.... Great fun!!!
The images were used for general marketing as well as crowd funding advertising and social media campaigns.
When fashion brand Lucyloo required a new set of images for its innovative 4-in-1 gown marketing campaign it was LP Commercial Photography they turned to amid the beautiful back drop of the Sunshine Coast hinterlands.
Tomkins Commercial and Industrial Builders PTY Ltd have been a long time client. LP Commercial is called upon to photograph the majority of their large developments on completion. One such project was the new Chermside Library, a fantastic and creatively designed Tomkins project for Brisbane City Council.
Brisbane architectural photographer
For a number of years now the biggest date in the hospitality industry calendar is the AHICE conference. It is the largest meeting of minds for the hotel sector attended by some of the most powerful men and women in the industry in Australasia and beyond. Andy has been the official photographer for the event since day one and each year is flown to Melbourne to cover the event.
Brisbane and Australian Event Photography
Every now and then you get to work on something special, the rebirth of an historic Queensland brand. When Vok Beverages decided to breath new life into Beenleigh Rum they chose Andy to visit bars across Brisbane and SE Queensland to give top cocktail bartenders the opportunity to create their own special drinks.
Brisbane food and drink photography
In 2014 the drinks industry came together in a one of a kind event in Australia, Top Shelf. Held in the beautiful Royal Exhibition Building, one of the oldest exhibition spaces of its kind in the world. Organisers Intermedia flew Andy down to Melbourne to cover the two day event.
